...For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

...Wonderful Counselor: Everyone needs a counselor at sometime, someone to talk to and someone to bounce ideas off of.

...HE KNOWS THE DEPTHS OF SCIENCE…He made the atom, the atom awaits His order every day to keep going.

HE KNOWS THE DEPTHS OF CREATION…he knows exactly how big the sun needed to be, how hot and how far away from the earth so that we don’’t freeze or burn.

...He will be known to His people as the WONDERFUL COUNSELOR–our friend, our savior.

...In its closing it returns to the praise of God in a concluding doxology - "For yours is the Kingdom and the Power and the Glory for ever."

...It is because the Kingdom, Power and Glory belong to God that we want his name to be kept holy, his Kingdom to come and his will to be done.

...Focusing on these attributes of God give us reason to hope that the requests we have made in the Lord’s Prayer will be answered. ... So my brothers and sisters in Christ let us go to our God the Father with the confidence that he always hears our prayers and He always answers our prayers; because he is our almighty God who can do everything if He is willing to.

...When we come to the end of that prayer, we know that God will answer us and we will be changed into God’s image and into the people of God.

...First of all, Christ is reminding us that we need to call on God's help in the face of temptation. We're calling on God's help for strength through the trials of life and asking God for the strength to resist temptation.

...But it's also a plea for God to help us make the wise decisions that keep us out of vulnerable situations and to ask for the wisdom to develop a lifestyle that limits temptations.

...So, we need to call on God to give us the power to resist temptation and deliver us from the evil one. ... It just makes sense to trust God and resist temptation and believe God will deliver us from evil.

One talent was worth about six thousand day’s work, so it would have taken this man 19 years, working six days a week, to earn one talent.

...It would have been understandable if his king laughed in his face when he begged to be given time to pay his debt in full.

...Yet the one who had been forgiven many lifetimes’ worth of debt grabbed this guy by the neck and demanded, “Pay me what you owe me!” ... As soon as the other servants heard what happened, they told the king, who called the evil man on the carpet, blasted him, and gave him the full punishment he deserved.

...Now the question is: will we be like the evil servant - someone who wants to take all the forgiveness God can give, but is not willing to give it to somebody else?

It seems that as he would begin his work of revival preaching, he would draw a circle on the ground in white chalk. Then he would step inside that chalk circle and pray, “Lord, send a revival, and let it begin inside this circle.”

...To pray the Lord’s Prayer is to draw a circle around yourself, step inside it, and pray “thy kingdom come, thy will be done” and let it happen through you. ... Each name reflected a different aspect of God's character, so God's names were considered by the Jews to be just as holy as God Himself. In fact, God's names were and are so holy to the Jews, that they never write His full name for fear of bringing disrespect to it and to God.

...In the Prayer of Jesus, the phrase, "Hallowed be Your name" is appropriate, because not only is God holy, but His name is holy too. We should never treat God's name with disrespect as some do when they curse and use God's name in vain. We should give the same respect and honor to God's name that we give to God because He and His name are one in the same.

In his book, “Alone with God,” John McArthur writes: “This prayer defines the attitude and spirit we ought to have. “Our” reflects unselfishness; “Father,” reflects family devotion; “hallowed be Thy name,” reverence; “Thy kingdom come,” loyalty; “Thy will be done,” submission; “give us this day our daily bread,” dependence; “forgive us our debts,” penitence; “do not lead us into temptation,” humility; “Thine is the kingdom,” triumph; “and the glory,” exultation; and “forever,” hope.

No matter how perfect a pattern this is, we must remember our Lord’s previous warning about our attitude in prayer.

...The more we think true thoughts about God, the more we will seek to glorify Him in our prayers. Commentator John Stott said, “When we come to God in prayer, we do not come hypocritically like play actors seeking the applause of men, nor mechanically like pagan babblers, whose mind is not in their mutterings, but thoughtfully, humbly and trustfully like little children to their Father.”

...Klopsch was an early supporter of Moody’s Bible Institute in Chicago, rallying Christian Herald readers to send in contributions for the financially strapped school.

...When reading Jesus’ words, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you” (Luke 22:20), he thought of printing all of Jesus’ words in red, the color of his blood.

“Modern Christianity,” Klopsch wrote in an explanatory note in his red- letter Bible, “is striving zealously to draw nearer to the great Founder of the Faith. Setting aside mere human doctrines and theories regarding Him, it presses close to the Divine Presence, to gather from His own lips the definition of His mission to the world and His own revelation of the Father... The Red Letter Bible has been prepared and issued in the full conviction that it will meet the needs of the student, the worker, and the searchers after truth everywhere.”

When God commanded Jonah to leave his native city in Israel to go to Nineveh and preach, Jonah was furious. ... The point was, if Jonah could have pity on a bit of vegetation, couldn't God have pity on an entire city full of people?

Most of the discussion that surrounds the Book of Jonah concerns whether or not these events could actually have happened. ... That it took a miracle for Jonah to survive his long stay inside the fish is not denied. If God could create a world, fish, and Jonah, he certainly could handle a matter like that (1:17).

...The next Sunday, even though the boys had plenty of time to shower and get ready, they still wore their baseball caps.

...To make a long story short, the leaders of this church said to the pastor that he needed to fix the situation because people were pretty worked up about it. The pastor was back and forth on the issue, thinking, These guys have a right to wear baseball caps if they want to.

In his book"Maxims,” Brother Lawrence writes, “Men invent means and methods of coming at God's love, they learn rules and set up devices to remind them of that love, and it seems like a world of trouble to bring oneself into the consciousness of God's presence.

...First published around 1699, four conversations and fifteen letters from this Carmelite lay brother were published in a little book titled, The Practice of the Presence of God. John Wesley is thought to be the first person to bring 'The Practice of the Presence of God' to the US when he made his first visit to Georgia. In it we learn how to engage in a continuous conversation with God–a way of faith, love, humility, and simplicity that anyone can practice anywhere at any time.
