How
Big is God Part 4
Big Enough to Make Me Holy
A survey published by the Barna Group in 2006 demonstrated
that most Americans don't consider themselves to be holy.
Three out of every four Americans (73%) believed that it is
possible for someone to become holy regardless of their past.
Only half of the adult population (50%), however, said that
they knew someone they considered to be holy. And that's more
than twice as many who considered themselves to be holy
(21%).
The views of born-again Christians were not much different
from the national averages. Among believers, three-quarters
(76%) said it is possible for a person to become holy
regardless of their past. Slightly more than half of the
group (55 percent) said they knew someone they would describe
as holy. And roughly three out of ten Christians (29%) said
they themselves were holy, which is marginally more than the
national norm.

A distinctive of the Church of the Nazarene is that we are
part of the holiness movement, which seeks to promote a
Christianity that is personal, practical, and life-changing.
The key beliefs of the holiness movement are (1) the first
work of grace is salvation from sin, and without it no amount
of human effort can achieve holiness by the witness of the
Holy Spirit; (2) a second definite work of grace, received by
faith, through grace, and accomplished by the baptism and
power of the Holy Spirit, by which a person is enabled to
live a holy life.
Pastor Rick addresses this distinctive of our church and
brings us a clear perspective from the Bible about holiness.
How BIG is God? BIG ENOUGH TO MAKE ME HOLY! This may be a
life-changing message for you today!
