Rick
Hudgens is a native of North Carolina. He and Sharron have
been married for 29 years. They have twin daughters, born in
1980. Danielle is assistant director of Human Resources at
the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center in Charlotte. Stephanie
is a third grade teacher at Metrolina Christian Academy in
Indian Trial, North Carolina. She is married to Joshua van
Almen, a police officer with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police
Department. Josh and Stephanie just recently had their first
baby, Alyse Nicole.
Pastor Rick was ordained in the Wesleyan Church in 1978. He served on the pastoral staff of Christian Fellowship Church in Vienna, Virginia from 1981–1992. He began as the youth pastor and later became executive pastor. In 1990 he served as church planter for a church in Leesburg, Virginia. During this time, the church grew in average attendance of 350 to nearly 2,000.
In 1992 Pastor Rick became senior pastor of College Church in Marion, Indiana. This is the campus church of Indiana Wesleyan University. Under his leadership the church flourished by going to multiple services and grew to over 500 in attendance.
In 1996 the Lord led Pastor Rick and his family to Sturgis, Michigan. There he served as senior pastor, leading a church averaging about 300 to over 600 in attendance. In 2001, Pastor Rick became district superintendent of the Kansas District of the Wesleyan Church. Under his leadership, the district planted a new church each year. Pastor Rick has also been certified as a senior consultant for New Church Specialties.
Over the past 32 years of ministry, Pastor Rick has had ministry positions in many different places. However, now that he and his wife and Sharron have become grandparents for the first time, they feel a God-given desire to return to North Carolina and be close to family. Sensing the direction of the Lord, Pastor Rick and Sharron are making themselves available for ministry at North Raleigh Church of the Nazarene.
